Lionel Bacon Memorial Lecture – March 23rd 2017

Our 19th Lionel Bacon Memorial Lecture was a delightful talk by Jon Evans, who has been photographing the changing and developing garden at the now-closed Blackthorn  Nursery (which is still sorely missed by all who used to visit there!) As usual, this was the occasion of the competition for the David Benton Rosebowl, and there were some lovely plants shown at the meeting. (Pictures below) Also at this meeting, we had the photographic competition for the Margaret Hedges Trophy, also attracting some excellent entries. Thanks to everyone who supported these events!

The winner of the Rosebowl, voted for by members, was Tony Stanley’s wonderful Dionysia

The winning photograph was from Steve Lobley, with second and third going to Paddy. Our speaker Jon Evans judged this.
