Programme for 2011-12 season
Our meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday in the month from September to May (except for December, when we meet on the 3rd Tuesday) . We meet at the Chilworth Hall (behind The Chilworth Arms) and doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are served at each meeting (except December when wine and soft drinks are available). At most meetings there is a raffle, plant sales, and display table.
Visitors are welcome - entrance is £2.50.

2011
27th September Turkish Delights Jim Love
Jim is a well-known member of our group. He and his wife Eileen are much travelled, and Jim is a keen photographer.
25th October Austrian mountains and their flowers Richard Horswood
AGS Open Lecture.
Richard is a keen botanist, and is Chairman of the Somerset Group of the AGS.
22nd November Rockery in the Garden Timothy Walker
Timothy is Director of the Oxford Botanic Garden, and trained at Askham Bryan, Windsor, and Kew. Some of you may have seen his excellent 3-part series on Botany on BBC3 earlier this year. He is always an entertaining and informative speaker.
20th December (3rd Tuesday!) In-house entertainment
Food- to be contributed by members. No raffle or plant sales.
2012
27th January Propagation - Hands on! John McCarthy
John is our Vice-Chairman, and a lifetime member of Northampton AGS. He is a keen propagator, and will pass on some of his experience to us!
28th February Flowers of Morocco Peter Sheasby
Peter has long been a member of the AGS, and is the AGS Librarian. He has travelled to many areas to photograph plants in the wild.
27th March Spring in the Tien Shan John Page
The 14th Lionel Bacon Memorial Lecture
Other AGS groups are invited.
John is the Society's overseas correspondent for Germany. He has travelled widely in the mountains of Europe.
There will also be a Competitive Show for the David Benton Rose Bowl (voted by members).
There will be Plant Sales, Raffle, and food contributed by members.
24th April Flowers of the Drakensberg Mountains Peter Moore
Annual General Meeting
Peter is an independent Plant Breeder, developing new plants for the temperate regions of the world.
The AGM will be brief!
22nd May Spring in Crete Gerald Nicholls
Annual Plant Sale
Gerald is a committee member for the Hampshire Group, and also a member of the Wiltshire Group.
There will be no raffle at this meeting.
